Last I heard it was in the 50's in Vancouver and I have a foot of snow. The weather shift is what global warming is.

Here in cold mountainous Colorado we've had only a few inches of snow and most days have had highs in the 40s and 50s so far this month. I've seen worse Winters in Missourillinois.

That's why I really doubt it was frozen over.

Where I grew up in Missourillinois the lakes used to freeze over every year, safe enough to drive cars on them. That hasn't happened there now for years and years.

Thyese kids had an adult with them. Never smart to go out on ice unless it's a hockey rink.

i spent my youth on the ice in the winters. pretty much every day was skating. fell through the ice my fair share of times. when the ice starts to thaw, the first first part to become weak is right along the shoreline. but if you could get out a few feet it was still stong enough to skate on. So we would run and try to jump out a few feet or lay a log out and walk on it to get out to the safer parts. lost a lot of pucks along the weak edges, but it did extend the skating season a week or two

One of my old college roommates was from Port Clinton and he told me that they used to get an old beater car, strip it down, and use it for tearing around on the ice. At the end of winter, before the ice melt, they would take the car, point it toward Canada, and put a brick on the gas pedal... grin
