and how do they expect these not to cross polinate with regular plants
Seems to depend on where they are. In Illinois for instance they grew genetically modified corn for years which was somehow sterilized so that it's seed corn would not be viable, and the reason they gave for sterilizing the seed was to prevent cross-pollenization. I don't know if they still do it that way, but a lot of Illinois farmers didn't like it because it meant they had to buy new seed corn every year instead of saving some seeds for the next year's plantings like they had done in the past. From watching those videos I saw that the same rules apparently weren't imposed on what they could grow in Mexico and so their genetically modified corn varieties have been allowed to cross-pollenate with the wild varieties in Mexico.

Maybe if they could train the bees they wouldn't cross pollinate.

Yup, I go to my local farmers market so often I should have a reserved parking space right up front. Never buy very far ahead, just enough for a day or two then stop again in a couple days and get it real fresh. Good thing its right on the way.

I shop at the local farmers' market too. We used to have a lot of roadsides around here but not so much anymore. There are still a few of them to be found, mostiy in the southern part of the state.

I grow a lot of my own stuff but it isnt easy keeping the deer and the rabbits from getting it first.

That made my mouth water - so it's just like cooking a beef stew then? I can do that.

Yep, nothing to it. If you ever happen to want to eat squirrel the same recipe works just as well.

What does squirrel taste like? We have plenty of them here, too.

Very similar to rabbit and not unlike dark meat chicken (I know).

I like rabbit better myself. Squirrel is often tough.

To fry tough game like squirrel in grease, and still make it relatively tender, keep it covered, cook it very slowly, and for a long time, over the lowest heat you can get where it will still keep sizzling. Sprinkle a few drops of water in the pan every now and then for steam under the lid and to test the sizzle. Right before you serve turn the heat up just enough to brown it. This won't work for domestic meats like pork and beef which tend to get tougher after a long slow fry.

One of my brothers went through a phase where he wanted to eat anything he could shoot. I tried to cook a jack rabbit for him one time using the method you described. Not even that method helped. LOL It was tough as a leather belt.

Old squirrels are like old jack rabbits, no matter how long you cook 'em they're tough as shoe leather. I would like to think that if somebody cooked me I would be that tough.

That reminds me I found some buckshot in a squirrel one time. First and last time I ever tried it.
